Energy Efficient Heating :: extra bit

Add comments

Here’s a very nice project I stumbled upon, called Creating a Greener House. It’s about the restoration of a 1928 house where great attention was given to energy efficiency. The site contains details about insulation, energy efficient heating and cooling and ventilation. A heat reclamation device is also installed in the form of a shower heat recovery mechanism. Measurements of the actual energy savings have also been made.

Solar power is also exploited both for generating electricity and for heating water. Something very interesting which I have never seen before, is that shower water is filtered and then reused for underground irrigation. If you browse around a bit, you’ll get many great ideas which can be applied to your home too.

    I’m sorry this comment is not relevant. But I came here searching for the rabbit hole theme which u have used here. I’m very new to web designing. I’m having problem with this theme. I want to create a static website, but not getting the footer right. When i used the theme for blog it worked fine, but for website i’ve made few changes nd it’s not working fine.. I added something in footer.php which is there in the latest version, then it started showing errors.
    Don’t know what to do. Plz help..
    Once again, very good work, you people are doing.

    Thanks
    Sourabh

      Hey,
      thanks for your kind words :)
      You need to tell us exactly what changes you made, but even if you do, debugging php code from a distance isn’t very easy. I can’t promise anything, we’re very new to web designing too, but we will try. :P

    I came here because I am impressed with your fixed Rabbit Hole theme. I am using it to on my website…the problem is, by default it’s not showing up properly. The rabbit hole and footer area are not rendering the graphics properly for whatever reason.

    I am hosting using WordPress, and my only request was to see if you could tell me what bits of code need to be corrected or changed for the default graphics to properly show up.

    Thank you so much! If you can help me with this, I’ll gladly deposit a sum in a PayPal account of your choosing and it would be incredibly appreciated.

    FYI, I figured out how to fix the footer image:

    Check your style.css under /*footer area*/ and make sure it says the following:

    /* footer area */
    #footer {
    clear: both;
    background: #000 url(images/footer.jpg) repeat-x;
    height: 103px;
    color: #ACD7EE;
    font-size: 95%;
    line-height: 130%;
    text-align:center;
    }

    Then make sure your footer.php shows the following:

    When both of these were corrected as above, the hole went all the way to the bottom and the rabbit showed up!

    (p.s. I know very little about HTML and CSS and the like….just poked around until it worked. :)

    Cool stuff, Bit o’ Green!
